When we first dreamt about what we wanted to make , our goal was simple: to find the best farmer with the best fruit. Like many opportunities in Wine Country, this dream got its start after a chance encounter with a legendary farmer at one of our favorite west county watering holes. That drink with Charlie Chenoweth led to a long conversation (and definitely more drinks) and the beginning of both a new friendship and working relationship that is fundamental to the success of Sedition.
At an elevation of 750 feet at the southwestern edge of the Green Valley, this epic vineyard is above the fog line and less than 10 miles from the Pacific. This idyllic cool climate growing region and its Goldridge sandy loam lend itself to extended hang time and the perfect amount of stress to produce world class Pinot Noir grapes. The hand selected Pommard clone provides the backbone to our Sedition blend.
Graham Family Vineyard
This vineyard is a highly sought after gem of the Green Valley. Located in the Northeastern corner of the region, which is one of the coolest and most perfectly suited areas to grow Pinot Noir. Also rooted in the well-drained Goldridge soil, these vines receive the perfect sun exposure for delicate and elegant fruit. The 667 and 828 clone provide mouth watering flavors and bring bright fruit and great acidity to our program.
